Easy Pasta Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 1 can Crushed Tomatoes (28 oz)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 medium Onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp Dried Basil
  • 1/2 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1/8 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt (more or less to taste)
  • 1/8 tsp Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Sugar (optional)

  • 1 Medium Sauce Pan

Method
 

  1. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in medium sauce pan over low heat until hot. Saute onion for 5 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic to onion and saute for an additional 2 - 3 minutes.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, and sugar if using. Add a splash of olive oil, about a tbsp, and stir to combine.
  4. Bring sauce to a low boil, reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.

Notes

  1. If making a meat sauce, brown meat. Add onion & garlic to meat and simmer for 5 minutes. Follow remaining steps of recipe.
